headache remedies often needed
Many people suffer from a severe headache at some time in their lives, although some are more susceptible than others, and it needs a trip to the doctor’s office to diagnose the type of headache that it is, and to try to find what is causing it. If you know the cause, you may be able to stop it from happening again, and ignorance is not necessarily bliss in the case of severe headaches.
Migraine headaches (aka migrains, migrane headaches or migrains) are generally classed as severe headaches, since it is often impossible for a person to continue doing anything when they have such a headache except curl up in a darkened room and try to sleep.
Unless you know the cause of a severe headache it is actually difficult to treat successfully, and the concern for the sudden onset of a severe headache is that it may be the onset of a stroke. Without knowing what to look out for, it is easy to miss the warning signs of a stroke, and neglect to get the early medical attention that is needed to stop damage.
So what are the symptoms for a stroke versus those of a severe headache? If the person has any numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg, particularly if it is only on one side of the body, and the person has trouble speaking or understanding, and seems confused, and if they have trouble seeing in one or both eyes, and have trouble walking because of dizziness, a loss of balance or a loss of coordination, and there is a severe headache, the cause of which is unknown, then the medical experts want you to seek medical help immediately, as these symptoms are all signs of having a stroke. The sooner help is received, the less the damage can be.
However, if the severe headache had visual disturbance leading up to it, perhaps with nausea, and an aversion to bright lights, then this could be a migraine headache.
If the sudden headache is accompanied by a fever, then again medical attention should be sort, especially if there is any sort of neck pain associated with the headache.
When in doubt, seek medical attention in person, or phone your doctor’s office and give your symptoms, and ask what to do. There are a lot of drop in clinics available these days where you do not have to have an appointment, and this too may be an option for any severe headache that has no known cause and is worrying you. It is better to be safe than sorry.
As for the cure or treatment, if it is a migraine headache, then there is no cure, although you can work on reducing the number of instances of such headaches by watching what you eat and finding out what seems to trigger such a headache.
